The Secret Ingredient was founded by Lindsey Steinke in August 2022 in the small mountain town of Mariposa, California, with a passion for handcrafted sourdough bread. It all started in Lindsey’s kitchen , after the Oak Fire ran through Mariposa is when she began baking bread for her loved ones. As demand for her delicious bread grew, she decided to turn her hobby into a business.

Our bread-making process takes a full 30 hours from start to finish to create each loaf. We believe that the time and effort put into each batch of bread is what sets us apart from the mass-produced alternatives. Our commitment to traditional bread-making methods has earned us a loyal following in Mariposa and beyond.
